How do I record a video of my screen?
Mac (macOS Mojave and newer)
Using Built-in Screenshot Toolbar:
- Press Command + Shift + 5.
- Choose Record Entire Screen or Record Selected Portion.
- Click Record.
- When done, click the Stop button in the menu bar (or Touch Bar).
- Click the thumbnail in the bottom-right corner to edit or save.
Mac & Windows – Using QuickTime (Mac only officially)
- Open QuickTime Player.
- Go to File > New Screen Recording.
- Use the dropdown next to the record button to select mic/click visibility.
- Click the red record button.
- Select screen or portion to record.
- Click the stop icon in the menu bar (or Touch Bar).
- Save via File > Save.
**Windows (QuickTime not available natively) **
QuickTime works only on Mac. For Windows, use:
- Xbox Game Bar (press Win + G)
- OBS Studio (free recording software)
Browser-Based Recording Tools
Use browser extensions such as:
- Loom
- Screencastify
- Screenity
These let you record directly from your browser.
Android
AZ Screen Recorder:
- Launch the app.
- Tap Record and confirm screen recording.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to stop.
Mobizen:
- Launch the app.
- Use the floating air circle.
- Tap the record icon to start recording.
- Tap the red stop icon to stop.
iPhone / iPad (iOS 12 or later)
- Go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, and add Screen Recording.
- Open Control Center.
- iPhone X or newer: Swipe from top-right.
- Older models: Swipe from the bottom.
- Long press the record button and tap Microphone if needed.
- Tap Start Recording.
- To stop, open Control Center and tap the red record icon, or tap the red status bar and select Stop.
- Recording will be saved in the Photos app.
